Dear Sponsors & Players of LA Open,
We hope we find you well during this very difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In view of the worldwide spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the uncertainties and concerns caused by the pandemic, LA Open Table Tennis Tournament Organizing Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 tournament.
We will resume our annual events in 2021.
The decision was made to protect the players, the volunteers, and the fans of our tournament. It is also our intention to abide by the social distancing policy adopted by the Federal and State Governments.
Please accept our whole hearted appreciation for your support of our past events and we look forward to having your sponsorship and support for our events in 2021 and beyond.
During this unprecedently public health obstacle , please keep yourself and your loved ones safe and healthy.
Thank you again and look forward to meeting you again at the 2021 LA Open.

2019 Ping Pong Fit International Festival
In conjunction with the City of Long Beach and LA OPEN
Lung Chung Law | LA Open Chairperson
On behalf of the 2019 LA OPEN Table Tennis Tournament Committee, it is my greatest pleasure to welcome all of you to this spectacular event.
In 2011, under the leadership of our founder Dr. Yungtai Hsu, we inaugurated this table tennis event. It was the first table tennis tournament of such a high magnitude in California. The huge success we experienced that year prompted us to make the tournament a permanent annual event. Now, in its ninth consecutive year, LA OPEN proudly provides with the most competitive platform and highest cash prize award in the US.
In addition to our highly competitive Ping Pong tournament, this year, players and spectators will also enjoy the first “Ping Pong Fit International Festival” presented by Global Creative Cities Coalition (GC3) in conjunction with the City of Long Beach and LA OPEN. This year GC3 is recognizing Long Beach as America’s first “Ping Pong Friendly City”. Together with GC3 and the City of Long Beach, table tennis will be a more popular sport in the US, and American players more competitive on the world stage.
“To that end, we’re thrilled to announce that LA OPEN 2019 will move to a new home. The Long Beach Convention Center, Exhibition Hall C. offers top amenities and accommodations for our growing event.”
As a reminder, LA OPEN is a non-profit organization. We are very fortunate to have a professionally dedicated Board of Directors, committee chairs and dedicated volunteers year in and year out – we can’t do this without you.
To our new and returning players, thank you for demonstrating your skill and sportsmanship in the competitions, to our fans we are excited to provide a great fun-filled weekend at the 2019 tournament and beyond.
Thank you, friends, fans, players and volunteers for supporting table tennis. Your financial contributions and volunteer efforts are always greatly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions that would benefit our events.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2019 LA OPEN Table Tennis Tournament!

Hello from GC3
Monique Luo & Barry Sedlik
Global Creative Cities Coalition (“GC3”) congratulates LA Open for its continued success as one of the leading table tennis competitions in the United States.
We are honored the board has decided to hold this year’s 9th Annual LA Open Tournament alongside the 2019 Ping Pong Fit International Festival at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California during the Labor Day Holiday weekend.
The Tournament and Festival celebrate the launch of GC3’s Ping Pong Fit program promoting health, fitness, and fun. Over the next three years, through a comprehensive campaign, we look to transform the US Ping Pong population by informing and motivating everyone to play. GC3, its partners and sponsors will be donating tables and equipment throughout the City of Long Beach to make Ping Pong accessible and for all residents, regardless of age, income, or physical abilities to play at safe, secure, and supervised facilities throughout the city.
For the enthusiastic support we have received from city officials and leaders, we will be presenting City of Long Beach Mayor, Dr. Robert Garcia, with a proclamation naming Long Beach as America’s First Ping Pong Friendly City.
In addition, we will be conducting forums on the relevance of “Ping Pong Diplomacy” as a means to facilitate people-to-people exchanges of art, culture, and sport. The festival will include a celebrity tournament of Hollywood stars and sports personalities, free Ping Pong clinics to help attendees “up their game” regardless of their current abilities with loads of fun and surprises in store.
We encourage you to attend these dual events! Participate and enjoy the spectacular level of play at the LA Open Tournament and be a part of our collective efforts to elevate Ping Pong to a true national sport that everyone can play. By generating interest, enthusiasm, and participation, we will further expand the pool of talent for High Performance players in the years ahead.
Please join us this coming Labor Day Weekend, August 31st and September 1st and be a part of history!
With Best Wishes,
Monique Luo and Barry Sedlik | Co-Founders Global Creative Cities Coalition [GC3]
