Welcome Message

On behalf of the 2018 LA Open Table Tennis Tournament Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to this spectacular event in Los Angeles, the City of Angels.

In 2011, under the leadership of our Founder Dr. Yungtai Hsu, we inaugurated this table tennis event. It was the first table tennis tournament of such magnitude in California. The huge successes we experienced that year had prompted us to make this tournament a permanent annual event. Now, in its eighth year, we are very proud to proclaim that not only LA Open offers the highest cash price award in the US, but also it is one of the most competitive tournaments in the nation.

In recognition of our highly acclaimed tournaments, USATT, the official national governing body of the sport of table tennis, has appointed the LA Open Committee to hold the 2018 National Ranking Tournament (NRT). This is the first time USATT has invited a California table tennis organization to hold the NRT. LA Open has decided to hold the 2018 NRT simultaneously with the 2018 LA Open during the Labor Day weekend (August 31- Sept. 2). To accommodate the added exciting events and players, the organizing committee has chosen Next Level Sports Complex, a large and ultramodern sports facility in Garden Grove, as new venue for the events. Hopefully, all our players and fans will enjoy the larger and better venue, and the added exciting high caliber events.

LA Open is a non-profit organization. We are very fortunate to have a group of very dedicated Board of Directors, committee chairs and many wonderful volunteer year in and year out to successfully carry out our mission and activities.

Hopefully, with the collaboration with USATT, we will make table tennis a more popular sport in the US, and then make our US table tennis players more competitive in the world stage.

Thank you all for your support of table tennis in California & US. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your suggestions for an even better table tennis experience.

Your financial contributions and volunteering work have always been greatly appreciated.

Here, I would like to use this opportunity to remind our players to maintain good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. It is our hope that through the table tennis competitions, we enhance the friendship among players.

Finally, “Good Luck” to all the players. I wish all of you be able to exhibit your personal best in the competitions.

Please join us to make 2018 LA Open Table Tennis Tournament one of the Best!
